The holiday, which became a federal holiday in 2021, has grown significantly in prominence and participation.\n\n"Juneteenth is about celebrating freedom, but it's also about education and looking forward," said event organizer Patricia Hayes. "We want everyone—regardless of background—to understand this crucial chapter of American history."\n\nCelebrations featured performances, historical reenactments, family activities, and economic empowerment initiatives supporting Black-owned businesses.
